Weighing 20 pounds, the Command Post is powered by an 18 AH internal, sealed lead-acid battery that can be float-charged indefinitely, making the unit ready for immediate use. It can be powered from an external 12-volt source or the 120-volt power-supply charger. A telephone-style handset with a 10-foot retractable cord and a noise-canceling microphone provides clear communication in noisy environments. The system has the power to penetrate thick concrete and steel and has been tested in some of the world’s tallest buildings, with two units transmitting loud and clear signals from the roof to the lowest sub-basement. Other applications include penetrating tunnels, subways or any place communication is obstructed.
