The ClearCalm system from Grayling offers a wireless, voice-activated SCBA communication system specifically designed to improve the quality of in-mask communications. The system includes a wireless transmitter, which mounts inside the SCBA mask, and a receiver unit designed to interface with the user’s existing radio. ClearCalm allows superior in-mask radio communications, hands-free team communications and hands-free voice amplification to occur simultaneously with its operating software. The unique design of ClearCalm has solved many of the problems encountered with typical SCBA communication systems on the market today. Issues such as difficult communications in high-ambient noise environments, poor voice quality, extra weight and bulk, interface wires located on the mask and poor user interface have all been eliminated with this system. The transmitter makes use of radio frequency and digital signal processing technology to substantially improve voice clarity and quality as well as allowing for the wireless interface between mask and receiver.
