Exploding onto the Scene

Explotrain announced that it has developed a mobile WMD Explosive Blast Simulator that is a safe but realistic substitute for live charges in various anti-terrorist training scenarios. The WMD Explosive Blast Simulator, model X-01, uses an electronically controlled propane and oxygen cannon to safely produce the explosive blast necessary for training scenarios involving explosive ordnance disposal, improvised explosive devices (IED) and artillery simulation. The simulator is safe, versatile, highly mobile and capable of operating in all weather conditions. When coupled with simulated explosive devices that mimic real-world threats in substance, appearance and—most importantly—detonation or triggering sensors, the EBS provides a comprehensive training simulation capable of replicating chemical, biological, radiological and conventional WMD incidents. Explotrain has provided the simulator systems to the Department of Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) School, the State Department’s explosive incident countermeasures course and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga.
